Granada CF has secured a Supreme Court ruling that upholds its right to a 75,000 € grant awarded in 2014, preventing the repayment demanded by the provincial council.

What did the Supreme Court decide?

The highest court confirmed that the ten‑day period to contest the administrative decision must be counted from the electronic notification on 24 October 2019. The chamber deemed the previous interpretation, which had led to a repayment demand, "unreasonable" and "lacking legal logic". Consequently, the club retained the aid and the claimed interest of 12,955.48 € was dismissed.

Why did the dispute arise?

A change of government in the Diputación, from a conservative to a socialist administration in 2015, left the 75,000 € sports‑promotion aid unjustified. The new management opened a compulsory repayment route, forcing the club to file a reinstatement appeal on 4 December 2019. Both the Administrative Litigation Court and the Andalusian High Court rejected the appeal as untimely, until the Supreme Court revisited the deadline calculation.

What does this mean for Granada CF?

The judgment secures the club’s financial stability and strengthens its case for future subsidies. The main sponsorship deal with "Sabor Granada" for the current season is already in place, and the legal certainty eases negotiations for additional public support.

Current sporting context

In Segunda División, Granada CF sits 14th with 48 points after 12 wins, 12 draws and 18 losses from 42 games. The team has scored 50 goals and conceded 56, a –6 goal difference. They are 34 points behind leaders Racing Santander. The latest result was a 1‑2 loss to Sporting Gijón on 30 May 2026, and the last five matches have all been defeats (LLLLL).

What’s next?

Having regularised the financial issue, the club can now focus on ending the poor run. The legal team, led by lawyer José Luis Pérez Raya, will continue to monitor any further administrative claims. Meanwhile, the sporting board will work with manager Paco López to improve results and steer clear of the relegation zone.
